FNWF Doings

Last night I joined all the other "Friday-nighters" over at Cheryll's for
I knew I needed something that would not require unsewing today as I would be watching the Anzac Test between Aussie Kangaroos and the Kiwis. We won YAY!!! But what a great game...quite the nailbiter. So I started some hand quilting...
I definitely needed to keep my energy up (for all that yelling at the TV) so chokkie was needed.
I enjoyed stitching along with everyone and will be by later to see what you got up to. Big thanks to Cheryll for being our hostess once again
This morning Mr R. and I enjoyed our walk through the park and it was quite fresh. We have had a little bit of rain so I expected the creek to be running but alas only a trickle...the sound however as it made it's way down through the rocks and crevices was very serene and peaceful.
With my sniffley nose the rocky steps were a bit hard going this morning for me...Mr R. racing (not) to the top!
Despite my huffing and puffing today I loved getting out in the bush in the fresh air.
I have a beautiful pink Callistemon in my garden that I planted in honour of Steve Irwin when he died and it has never flowered very well until now. It is covered in gorgeous pink brushes tinged in gold.
The tree looks beautiful. I bought a few into the house to cheer me...
Not too many as I didn't want to deprive the Lorikeets and Honey Eaters of their breakfast. They are all over it and so noisy which is lovely to see.
Lastly I just wanted to share this little gem that was posted on Facebook and really says very eloquently what it is like to create....
Enjoy your weekend folks,
Namaste and Blessings,
Michelle xxx

Hi Michelle - LOVE what you are quilting, just gorgeous. That is a beautiful flowering shrub you planted in honour of Steve Irwin, what a lovely thing to do, I liked him very much & his friendly way. Nice that you can enjoy some stems inside too. I have read that little verse before & just love it & agree with all it says. Happy weekend x0x

Lovely post. Beautiful flowering bush, glad it is happy & flowering. Lovely quilting project, you haven't told us what it is? Maybe it's a secret!
Yes chokkie keeps me going too.
Love the verse, how true, that's one other reason to buy patterns, not copy them.
happy weekend.

Love your hand quilting. The message about creating is just so true and some people who aren't creative don't seem to understand the time and passion put into handmade. Have a lovely weekend Michelle.

A lovely post Michelle, and lovely to see what you are hand quilting, I bet there were moments of fast and frantic and slow and forgotten stitches while watching the match!! The final saying sums it all up nicely doesn't it? Hope the sniffley nose goes soon.

Oh, the callistemon is very beautiful Michelle, it must have reached its prime this year.
Hard work walking in that bushland, but very healthy and lovely in the cooler weather.

10 points from me just for doing that walk when you aren't 100%. I haven't been out of my pyjamas since Friday!(and not because Im still sick - Im just such a slacker!)

Your quilting is amazing, love it....and those flowers, very pretty...

How can you hand-quilt while watching such a game Michelle? Oh the distraction!

I do love the sentiment at the end of your post... I think that unless a person is creative themselves in some way, they can never appreciate what goes into making something

Cheryll said...

Of course one needs chokkie ...your stitching shows that it's important! Looks great!

Lovely quilting Michelle. That Callistemon is beautiful. Hope that cold has gone

That's a gorgeous project you have in the quilt hoop. Hope you didn't get any of that yummy looking chocolate on it. :o) Amazing flowers... they look like fancy bottle brushes. We don't have anything half as exotic looking over here.
